Nikon Posts D300 Digitutor
November 20, 2007Nikon just posted the D300 version of their Digitutor, a Flash-based site dedicated to helping users get up to speed with their cameras. The D300 Digitutor includes instructional video clips, sample photos and a close look at the D300’s menu system.

AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mmf/2.8G ED Reviewed
November 17, 2007One of Nikon’s latest and most eagerly anticipated lenses is the new AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mmf/2.8G ED . This baby is built like a tank and employs Nikon’s latest Nano Crystal coating to reduce flare and ghosting and deliver truly professional quality results. Early reviews indicate that this is one of the best lenses yet from Nikon, something its $1,699 (US) price tag can certainly attest to.

Nikon UK to Include Capture NX with D3 and D300

Nikon UK is pleased to announce that for the first time its new professional Digital SLR cameras, the D3 and D300, will be accompanied by Capture NX, Nikon’s award winning software package.
The latest version of the software, Capture NXv1.3 will give professional photographers the creative freedom to develop and enhance shots, particularly when shooting in RAW format. Initial shipments of the new cameras will come with a product key that will unlock a downloaded trial version of NX available from the web site. A D3 Roundup
November 16, 2007Rob Galbraith has posted an excellent roundup of some of the best Nikon D3 photos that have trickled onto the internet. These photos were shot by well-known photographers such as Tony Bock, Nick Didlick, David Einsel and Peter K. Burian, who were recruited by Nikon to test their new flagship camera. The photos also include links to full resolution downloads.

New Fisheye Lenses from Sigma
November 15, 2007The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new 10mm F2.8 EX DC FISHEYE HSM lens.

This autofocus fisheye lens is designed for use with digital SLR cameras equipped with APS-C size image sensors. The Nikon version produces a diagonal angle of view of 180°(154° for Sigma, 167° for Canon). The diagonal field of view of this fisheye lens produces striking images with exaggerated perspective and distortion. The minimum focusing distance of 13.5cm/5.3inch, and maximum magnification 1:3.3 allows subjects to be as close as 1.8cm/0.7inch from the lens’ front element. This close focusing capability allows close-up photography and also it is possible to make use of large depth of field that covers wide range of subjects. More info.
The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new 4.5mm F2.8 EX DC Circular Fisheye HSM lens.

This autofocus circular fisheye lens has an angle of view of 180 degrees in all directions. It is exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras with the APS-C size image sensor. When used in conjunction with digital SLRs with APS-C size image sensors, it produces a circular image within the frame. More info.

Dave Black on the D3
November 1, 2007Up until now few photographers have been able to spend any significant amount of time with Nikon’s new D3 and put it to its paces. One exception is noted sports photographer Dave Black who has spent about 3 months evaluating the D3 and has plenty of wonderful things to say about it.
